Manas National Park

Manas National Park or Manas Wildlife Sanctuary A national park, UNESCO Natural World Heritage site, a Project Tiger reserve, an elephant reserve and a biosphere reserve in Assam, India. Located in the Himalayan foothills, it is contiguous with the Royal Manas National Park in Bhutan. The park is known for its rare and endangered endemic wildlife such as the Assam roofed turtle, hispid hare, golden langur and pygmy hog. Manas is famous for its population of the wild water buffalo.

 How to reach



By Road: Manas is 176 kms from Guwahati. The National Highway No. 31 adjoins Barpeta Road (not Barpeta town) which is 22 kms to Bansbari (Manas entry point where Musa Jungle Retreat is located overlooking the Park). The journey from Guwahati by road is 5 hrs. Approx.

By rail: Guwahati is gateway to the North East India. All major cities of India are well connected to Guwahati including Rajdhani Express.
There are several trains stops at Barpeta Road Railway Station, which is 22 kms by road.

By Flight: Nearest Airport is Guwahati (180 kms / 5 hrs drive approx.). Regular flight operates from Bagdogra, Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Goa, Dibrugarh, Jorhat by Indian Airlines (Air India), Jet Airways, Jetlite, Indigo, & Go Air. Drukair connects Bangkok & Paro (Bhutan) with Guwahati twice a week.

2 It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female you're alone or in group no issue you can join the tour without any tension and fear.

 Do's & Don'ts

 

Do's


 
  •   Carry clothes that will help you camouflage with the surroundings.
  •   Always carry original identity proof.
  •   Follow strict timings as given by your team leader to avoid delay in any activities as safaris are group     events.
  •   Enjoy nature and surrounding area in the jungle while you in safari with your group.
  •   Always keep your phone on silent or airplane mode when entering forest.
  •   Cover your face with a scarf to protect it from dust.
  •   Also carry extra batteries, memory cards for camera
  •   Cloth/Cover to protect the camera/binoculars etc. from dust.
  •   Option to Carry Sunscreen (fragrance-free).
  •   Always remain calm & composed when any sighting takes place. Remember patience is the only key.
  •   Your guide/mentor/leader know the area inside the forest better than anyone, so do co-operate with     them.
  •   Always respect your local guide/driver and their knowledge about the forest during the safari.

 

Don'ts


 
  •   Do not litter in forest and surrounding areas.
  •   Do not throw anything out of the gypsy.
  •   No one is allowed to get down from the gypsy inside the forest.
  •   Do not yell, scream or wave at the animals.
  •   Do not wear brightly colored clothes or apply any kind of perfumes or deodorants.
  •   Never feed any animals.
  •   Do not play any loud music in vicinity of the forest area.
  •   Do not argue with any person like forest guards, guides, locals or even travellers from another gypsy     during the safari.
