Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. It is located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and was named after Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment. The park was the first to come under the Project Tiger initiative.

Spans over an extent of 520.8 square kilometers, its whole area comprises of hills, marshy depressions, riverine belts, grasslands and large lake. Dense moist deciduous forest mainly consists of sal, haldu, peepal, rohini and mango trees. Forest covers almost 73% of the park, 10% of the area consists of grasslands. It houses around 488 different species of plants and 50 species of mammal a diverse variety of fauna. It also home to more than 650 species of residents and migratory birds and more than over 50 species of raptors alone shows the healthy biodiversity of the area. This finest national park of India is well known for rich and varied wildlife including royal Bengal tiger, elephant, four to five species of deer and rich birdlife.

 How to reach

By road: Ramnagar has a very good network of road that connects the different cities. The Corbett National Park is situated at an approximate surface distance of 260 Kilometer from India's national capital Delhi. The state government of Uttarakhand plies buses at a short interval of time from Delhi, Moradabad, Haldawani, and Nainital that reaches Corbett directly.> By rail: One can reach by railways to Guwahati, which is well connected to the rest of India. From Guwahati, one can, then, go by road to Kohora. There are also trains to Jorhat from Guwahati/ Dibrugarh. One can alight at Jorhat and drive by road to Kohora.

Nainital: Via Kaladhungi to Ramnagar (62 Kms)
Lucknow: Lucknow - Bareilly - Kicha - Rudrapur - Kashipur - Ramnagar (436 km)

By Flight:
Guwahati

By Rail: The railway station in Ramnagar receives trains from different major cities of India like Delhi, Moradabad and Bareilly. A direct train to Ramnagar runs from Delhi. You can check out for Ranikhet Express, Corbett Link Express and Kathgodam Express that takes you directly to Ramnagar.

Day 1
Reach Ramnagar 04.50 am, Travel to Jim Corbett check in park and rest house

Day 2
After Lunch evening start 1st Jungle Safari. Evening back to resort, Rest, Dinner, Post Dinner Experience Sharing then Rest

Day 3
Early Morning Have tea and start 2nd Jungle Safari. After Lunch evening start 3rdJungle SafarEvening back to resort, Rest, Dinner, Post Dinner Experience Sharing then Rest

Day 4
Early Morning Have tea and start 4th Jungle Safari. after bf pack your bags travel to Ramnagrar enjoy local sight seen and catch CORBET PRK LINK 22.00pm

Do's


 
  •   Carry clothes that will help you camouflage with the surroundings.
  •   Always carry original identity proof.
  •   Follow strict timings as given by your team leader to avoid delay in any activities as safaris are group     events.
  •   Enjoy nature and surrounding area in the jungle while you in safari with your group.
  •   Always keep your phone on silent or airplane mode when entering forest.
  •   Cover your face with a scarf to protect it from dust.
  •   Also carry extra batteries, memory cards for camera
  •   Cloth/Cover to protect the camera/binoculars etc. from dust.
  •   Option to Carry Sunscreen (fragrance-free).
  •   Always remain calm & composed when any sighting takes place. Remember patience is the only key.
  •   Your guide/mentor/leader know the area inside the forest better than anyone, so do co-operate with     them.
  •   Always respect your local guide/driver and their knowledge about the forest during the safari.

 

Don'ts


 
  •   Do not litter in forest and surrounding areas.
  •   Do not throw anything out of the gypsy.
  •   No one is allowed to get down from the gypsy inside the forest.
  •   Do not yell, scream or wave at the animals.
  •   Do not wear brightly colored clothes or apply any kind of perfumes or deodorants.
  •   Never feed any animals.
  •   Do not play any loud music in vicinity of the forest area.
  •   Do not argue with any person like forest guards, guides, locals or even travellers from another gypsy     during the safari.
