National Chambal Sanctuary |
The National Chambal Sanctuary total
area of 1235 sq. km. is protected.The
Chambal River passes through three
states: Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh,
and Uttar Pradesh. The Sanctuary was
first designated as a protected area
in 1979 in an attempt to revive the
Gharial population from ongoing poaching.
It covers a 400 km stretch with a
1-5 km stretch of mud cliffs on both
sides of the Chambal river ravines.
is famous for the rare Gangetic dolphin,
gharial, crocodiles and supports 8
of the 26 rare turtle species, largest
population of Gharial, Gangetic dolphin,
nesting of Indian Skimmers and more
than 320 resident and migrant birds

to reach
By road:
Excellent network of roads connect Bharatpur
to major cities in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh,
Haryana and Delhi. Regular bus services
ply from Delhi, Mathura, Jaipur, Alwar
and adjoining areas. Bharatpur from Delhi
is 192 Km and from Jaipur is 186 Km one

- Carry clothes that will help
you camouflage with the surroundings.
- Always carry original identity
proof.
- Follow strict timings as given
by your team leader to avoid delay in
any activities as safaris/bird watching
are group events.
- Enjoy nature and surrounding
area in the jungle/Park while you in safaris/bird
watching with your group.
- Always keep your phone on silent
or airplane mode when entering forest.
- Cover your face with a scarf
to protect it from dust.
- Also carry extra batteries,
memory cards for camera
- Cloth/Cover to protect the camera/binoculars
etc. from dust.
- Option to Carry Sunscreen (fragrance-free).
- Always remain calm & composed
when any sighting takes place. Remember
patience is the only key.
- Your guide/mentor/leader know
the area inside the forest better than
anyone, so do co-operate with
them.
- Always respect your local guide/driver
and their knowledge about the forest during
the safaris/bird watching.

the gypsy.
- Do not yell, scream or wave
at the animals.
- Do not wear brightly colored
clothes or apply any kind of perfumes
or deodorants.
- Never feed any animals.
- Do not play any loud music in
vicinity of the forest area.
- Do not argue with any person
like forest guards, guides, locals or
even travellers from other
during the safaris/bird watching.
