Surgad |
Surgad (means Gods fort) is a fort
located in the spur which is fragmented
from the Sahyadri ranges of Maharashtra.
The fort is situated near Roha in
the Raigad district. At the base of
this fort is a village called Gherasurgad.This
fort was an observation fort which
guarded the trade route along the
Kundalika river from Sudhagad to Revdanda
fort
Gherasurgad is little known but extremely
interesting and beautiful Fort. Surgad
has water tanks, ancient temples and
buildings and is historically associated
with Chatrapati Shivaji. Surgad top
offers great views of the meandering
Kundalika river as it originates from
Tamhini Ghat and finds it way to the
sea at Roha. Surgad Fort trek is a
soft trek and suited for any individual
with basic fitness. Surgad trek is
recommended for beginners, soft trekkers
and family groups looking to have
nature experience. |
